Los m\u00fasculos alojados en su espalda son los que permiten que el animal saque o esconda las p\u00faas us\u00e1ndolas como una armadura. Le gusta comer insectos y dormir de d\u00eda pudiendo roncar, es un animal nocturno. Tiene un o\u00eddo muy agudo ya que puede percibir ultrasonidos.\r\nEl erizo tiene una fuerte inmunidad al veneno de v\u00edbora, lo que no significa que en determinadas ocasiones la mordida del reptil no pueda acabar con su vida.
