Los eucaliptos son \u00e1rboles y plantas medicinales perennes de porte recto. Pueden llegar a medir m\u00e1s de 60 m de altura. Las especies que hay en nuestro territorio son todas introducidas (al\u00f3ctonas). \r\nEn algunos ejemplares la corteza exterior (ritidoma) es marr\u00f3n claro con aspecto de piel y se desprende a tiras dejando manchas grises o parduscas sobre la corteza interior, m\u00e1s lisa.\r\nLas hojas j\u00f3venes de los eucaliptos son, ovaladas, gris\u00e1ceas y de forma falciforme. Estas se alargan y se tornan de un color verde azulado brillante. El aceite se usa de forma t\u00f3pica como tratamiento para dolores musculares y de articulaciones, as\u00ed como para tratar el herpes labial.
