en el que establece que tendr\u00e1n la consideraci\u00f3n de singulares los \u00e1rboles o formaciones de cualquier especie, sea o no aut\u00f3ctona, situadas en propiedad p\u00fablica o privada, que sean merecedoras de medidas espec\u00edficas de protecci\u00f3n, atendiendo a las excepcionales caracter\u00edsticas de su porte,\u00a0 dendometr\u00eda, edad, rareza, significaci\u00f3n hist\u00f3rica o cultural, inter\u00e9s cient\u00edfico, educativo, est\u00e9tico o paisaj\u00edstico, o cualquier otra circunstancia que las haga merecedoras de especial protecci\u00f3n<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00bfQu\u00e9 supone la catalogaci\u00f3n?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Los ejemplares catalogados se consideran protegidos a todos los efectos, y se proh\u00edbe cualquier acci\u00f3n que le afecte negativamente a su integridad, salud o apariencia. Las personas propietarias, en el caso de haberlas, tendr\u00e1n ayudas para cuidarlos. Adem\u00e1s, aquellos proyectos que puedan ser una amenaza para cualquiera de estas especies catalogadas, precisar\u00e1n autorizaci\u00f3n administrativa previa por parte de la Xunta de Galicia. class=\"avia_textblock \">\n<p><strong>Est\u00e1 incluido en el Cat\u00e1logo gallego de \u00e1rboles singulares con el c\u00f3digo 53A<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>En la actualidad solo queda un ejemplar macho de 21 metros. Originariamente fue plantado hace m\u00e1s de 130 a\u00f1os en el que fue el primer jard\u00edn bot\u00e1nico de la Universidad, junto a un ejemplar hembra, que alcanz\u00f3 los 27 metros, pero que hubo que retirar dado su mal estado en 2017. Compite en longevidad con el ginkgo que hay en el jard\u00edn bot\u00e1nico de la Universidad de Granada, de 1889; el de Compostela se plant\u00f3 en 1880. El ginkgo es la especie superior viva m\u00e1s antigua del planeta, de ah\u00ed el inter\u00e9s por parte de los estudiosos. En Santiago hay algunos ejemplares m\u00e1s de esta especie, por ejemplo, en la Alameda, en el Auditorio o en el Colegio Mayor Xelm\u00edrez.\u00a0 Estudiosos como Izco Sevillano, consideran que el ginkgo es una especie \u201caislada de la evoluci\u00f3n\u201d, una especie de f\u00f3sil viviente, y \u201ctoda una rareza a nivel bot\u00e1nico\u201d. Prueba de su fortaleza es que incluso resisti\u00f3 a las bombas at\u00f3micas sobre Hiroshima. En el <em>jard\u00edn de las Pedras que falan<\/em> en Fonseca, inaugurado en 2018, y acompa\u00f1ando al ginkgo, podemos ver varios textos grabados de importantes figuras de la escritura gallega e internacional. El nombre original de este \u00e1rbol en chino es yin xing, que significa albaricoque plateado. Hay ejemplares que llegan a los dos mil a\u00f1os de antig\u00fcedad.
