href=\"\/reptiles\">reptil<\/a> guarda un gran parecido a la v\u00edbora en forma y color, de ah\u00ed su nombre. Su cabeza, de forma triangular y generalmente con una mancha en V, es poco com\u00fan en una culebra. Sus ojos son naranjas.\r\nVive cerca del agua. El cuerpo de la culebra viperina es grueso y su cola corta; llega a medir un metro aunque su longitud media es de 70 cm, la hembra suele ser de mayor tama\u00f1o.\r\nNo es venenosa, aunque adopta una postura defensiva imitando el ataque de las v\u00edboras si se la molesta, nunca muerde; ni siquiera llega a abrir la boca para atacar.
