al igual que el sapo partero, pertenecen a una familia muy primitiva de <a href=\"\/anfibios\">anfibios<\/a> anuros, los Discogl\u00f3sidos. Se caracterizan por poseer una lengua con forma de disco y que apenas se puede mover ya que est\u00e1 unida en su base al paladar, por lo que no pueden extender la lengua para capturar sus presas, debiendo utilizar la boca. Por ello su alimentaci\u00f3n se limita pr\u00e1cticamente a las capturas de insectos que pasan cerca.\r\nAunque se puede confundir con la rana com\u00fan, se diferencia porque el sapo pintojo tiene un hocico m\u00e1s largo, la pupila acorazonada y su t\u00edmpano es apenas visible.
